Through the Looking Glass
September 2015 Update -
This month we will be holding a 1 day exhibition (12th September) in the WI Hall in Bellingham Lane so we thought we would show you some pictures relating to that building.
The original hall was built in 1903 by Harry Adey for the Peculiar People religious group.
In 1923 this group moved out to their new church in Eastwood Road and the Salvation Army took over.
In 1935 the Salvation Army moved to their present building in the High St near Love Lane and the Women’s Institute bought the hall for £300.
The original hall was destroyed by fire in 1998 and the current building was opened in January 2000.
