Rayleigh
Through the Looking Glass
July 2015 Update -
As you will be aware from our December 2014 update it was the 125th anniversary of the arrival of the railway in Rayleigh in 2014. As part of that anniversary we held an individual painting competition and a school mural competition open to all the 8 Rayleigh Primary Schools.
The Key Stage 1 winning entry is by Marcus Whittington from Edward Francis Primary School and
the Key Stage 2 winning entry is by Jessica Davies from Rayleigh Primary School.
The winning School Mural entry is by Wyburns Primary School.
The 2 individual winning paintings were reproduced in a larger format by local artist Lisa Smith and
these enlargements together with the Wyburns School Mural have been permanently installed
at Rayleigh Railway Station.
The official unveiling took place on 10th June 2015 with attendance by Cllr. Heather Glynn, Chairman of Rochford District Council, Cllr. Julie Sawford, Chairman of Rayleigh Town Council, members of Rayleigh Through the Looking Glass, representatives from Abellio Greater Anglia and family and friends of the winners.
